Monarch Memo
Sept. 25 - 29, 2017
Thank you staff for your commitment to the WASC Process
Great conversations took place last Wednesday regarding our data, strengths and needs. We appreciate the time and effort of the Focus Group members and leaders. The self-study is progressing steadily and we are working on finalizing our five sections, gathering our needs and strengths from each group and then determining our critical learner needs. We appreciate your input and feedback on the process. We will continue to update staff and parents throughout the process.

WASC Student Feedback
Period 3 teachers please select a student to represent your class for Student Congress
Students are a part of the WASC process and our Student Congress will be a representative group of all grade levels that the WASC Visiting Committee can potentially meet with in March. When you are selecting/electing representatives this year, please keep in mind that these students may be asked to sit on a panel for WASC.
Please connect with your period 3 class this week and add your student representative to the Google Doc that I will share with you. It is possible that these representatives may need to meet during period 3, however, I will do my best to invite them to meet during Advisory like last year.
Teachers with SAI students, feel free to let me know if you would like your students to participate. A few wanted to last year, while others did not. Please complete the Google document with the name and grade of your student representative by
Thursday, October 5th. Thank you.
Paula Delgado our AP Sub.
We appreciate Paula's willingness to step in as AP while Bill is out on leave. She is currently in an Admin. program and assuming this role is ideal for her studies. Having an AP sub who already knows our site, students, procedures and rules will make the transition smoother. Bill's last day is October 4.

There are two ways to pay:
- Write a check in the amount of $35 per person payable to MV PTSA and write Hall of Fame Dinner in the memo area. Drop it into the PTSA box.
- Go online on our website under "Announcements" and click on the 2017 Hall of Fame Celebration...this will take you to the ticket payment page.
- The north lot paving will be completed this weekend September 23 & 24, 2017. All gates will be open for normal use Monday September 25, 2017. Special Ed buses can once again pull through the area to drop off. Staff will be able to park anywhere in the lot. Please make sure you are not parked in an area that has an opening for crossing the bus lane. If you purchased a parking spot we will not be painting anything until after the final steps. Thank you for everything and the patience while we become a greener energy efficient school!
- AP Test Prep Resources - Laura Preble
A colleague of mine (the great and powerful Suzanne Sannwald from West Hills) shared this great chart with links and instructions on our district resources for test prep. It's very concise and saves a lot of time, so feel free to share it with your students, or put it on your classroom, or whatever you'd like to do with it.
- BOOK TASTINGS at the Library They are delicious. See the link below
- How can you still work on the Chromebook when you are offline?
The District DLCs have put together a presentation that explains the offline capabilities of Chromebooks. They can do quite a bit and you may not need to scrap a whole lesson when the internet goes down. Find out more here: Chromebooks Offline Presentation.
