Monarch Memo
March 27 - 31, 2017
CAASPP and NWEA testing begins - Block schedule

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, our Monarchs enjoy and stay connected to school with fabulous school-wide events.  Thank you to Julie and the Monarch Theatre for an outstanding performance of “Once Upon a Mattress”.  It is evident from the details of the sets and costumes, quality lighting and outstanding acting/singing that our students take pride in and strive to deliver professional performances. The ASB spent many hours planning for the unique “black light” assembly that compliments the Spring Fling theme, “Glow the Night Away”.  Thanks to Jess and the ASB students for their hard work and for including so many of our Monarchs in the assemblies.  Thank you also to Si Se Puede for hosting the students vs. staff basketball game on Friday night.  This was another great event that brought Monarchs together.

What is new?
Solar Power installation
The district is working with SunPower to install solar panels on all campuses.  This summer the majority of panels at MVHA will be installed on the west dirt area near the baseball fields.  The north lot is the location for the installation of a smaller set of panels.  Please note that there are a few trees that will need to be removed and some parking spots will be unusable.  Please see Kristine or Marietta if you would like more information about the Solar Panel install.

Referral Titles
When a referral is written the titles must say the student’s name only.  Please do not write any other information in the title.

Guest Speakers/Class visitors
Please notify Denise for Marietta and Rad about off-campus visitors and guest speakers.  We need to know when, where and what they are presenting.  Please notify us at least one week in advance if possible.  All guests must check into the front office to receive their visitor pass.  Thank you.

  1. Graduating seniors will get a form to indicates whether they will return the Chromebook or purchase it.

We will keep you posted on next steps.

REMINDERS - read as needed
  • Field trips/Excuse lists - last message from Rad
Please remember that field trips and out-of-school activities may not be scheduled within 2
weeks of the first day of finals.   May 19th is the last day for any field trips and out-of-school activities for this semester. REMINDER:  We have a school policy that all field trips/excuse lists, with the exception of athletics, must be SENT OUT to staff a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the field trip date. If you have a field trip planned and it is turned in late, it will not be approved by admin.  Please note that the excuse list needs to go out 2 weeks prior to the date which means you must be organized and get your information to admin before 2 weeks prior to the activity.
  • Advisory - Amanda’s message
we are not changing Advisories based on 9 week grades. The rationale is that with Smarter Balance testing and our upcoming Spring Break the students would only be in this new Advisory for about 3 days. Students will instead just stay the extra week in their current Advisory (based on 6 week grades).
