What is new?
The GUHSD Board approved a plan to sell graduating Seniors their assigned Chromebooks for $20. This will begin this year. Here is a quick summary:
- Graduating seniors will get a form to indicates whether they will return the Chromebook or purchase it.
- If they decide to purchase it, they will be asked to sign the paper indicating they plan to use it to further their education.
- Each site will determine which designated class or other method we be put in place to have Seniors either return the device or pay the $20.
We will keep you posted on next steps.
The State Accountability Dashboard launches - see info at bottom of MM for links
The State has developed a new way of measuring student progress and school success. Feel free to check out the article below. We will keep you posted when our district and school dashboards are more complete. Eleventh grade test results will not be added until the fall 2017.
Sack Lunches needed for field trips
Jennifer Placencia, Cafeteria Manager, would like everyone to know that the cafeteria requests a 2 week notice for sack lunches needed for field trips. When the excuse list is turned into administration for the 2 week notice, please provide her a copy indicating students who need lunches as well. Greatly appreciated.

REMINDERS - read as needed
- Field trips/Excuse lists - last message from Rad
Please remember that field trips and out-of-school activities may not be scheduled within 2
weeks of the first day of finals. May 19th is the last day for any field trips and out-of-school activities for this semester. REMINDER: We have a school policy that all field trips/excuse lists, with the exception of athletics, must be SENT OUT to staff a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the field trip date. If you have a field trip planned and it is turned in late, it will not be approved by admin. Please note that the excuse list needs to go out 2 weeks prior to the date which means you must be organized and get your information to admin before 2 weeks prior to the activity.
- Advisory - Amanda’s message
we are not changing Advisories based on 9 week grades. The rationale is that with Smarter Balance testing and our upcoming Spring Break the students would only be in this new Advisory for about 3 days. Students will instead just stay the extra week in their current Advisory (based on 6 week grades).
Monarchs in Action
