Monarch Memo: Oct 3 - 7. 2016

Monarch Memo
Oct. 3 - 7, 2016
Please join the PTSA.  PTSA + MV = Great match

Every day I find out more and more about all the wonderful opportunities our staff members provide for our students.  There were so many great events to attend and participate in this past week and the previous weeks.  Thank you for creating these opportunities for students to get involved and get connected to Monte Vista.

We have so many staff members and it would be great if we had to opportunity to get to know everyone.  We will do our best to meet and talk with others at our staff meetings when possible. Please let me know if you have good news to share or would like some good thoughts coming your way for you or family members.  This week we are sending congratulations to Brittany Wood, SPED teacher who is getting married this coming weekend.  We also want to welcome our new Science teacher Shahrzad (Sherry) Zand Moghaddam who will be starting with us this week.  She will be teaching ⅘’s while Karen Bowers supports teachers full time with the training and implementation of NGSS across the district.   Thank you for your understanding and patience as we shift students around to accommodate the changes.  Best wishes to both Karen and Sherry.

MONARCHS IN THE NEWS

Here is the phone message sent home to parents on Sunday, October 2, 2016

Good Evening Monte Vista Families, this is Principal Minjares with a weekly update.

This week we have many home athletic events such as tennis, water polo, cross country and volleyball for students and parents to come enjoy and support.  Friday our football teams play Mount Miguel and it is their Homecoming.  Let’s all plan to fill the stands at Mount Miguel this Friday night.

Saturday, October 8 is a great opportunity for all high school students to attend the Career and College Fair at Cuyamaca College.  The event is called “Got Plans?” and it takes place this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Hope to see you, your friends and your family members at Cuyamaca College.

All parents are invited to our next PTSA meeting on Monday, October 10th at 6:00 p.m. in room 104.  Stop by and get to know other Monarch parents and find out all the great things that PTSA does for our students.  If you can’t come to the meeting but would like to support our school, please check out the Monte Vista website where you can join PTSA, stay informed and keep up to date on school and community events.

Have a great week Monarchs.
