REMINDERS
- NWEA testing this week on October 17th and 18th to 40 EL juniors and seniors. This assessment is a critical part of the reclassification process. Notes will be sent ahead of time to let these students know which day they are testing. In addition campus supervisors will be picking up these students at the beginning of period 2 on either Tuesday the 17th or Wednesday the 18th. Students should return to class by period 5. Thanks for your coordination Amanda and Sam.
- 9 week grading window is now open and will close on Monday at 8:00 a.m.
- GO GUARDIAN District Expectations - Message from Travis
I want to clarify the district, and therefore, site, expectations for teacher monitoring of student Chromebook use using GoGuardian. All teachers are expected to follow this protocol.
Acceptable Monitoring Window
Monday - Friday: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Unacceptable Monitoring Window
Any other time outside of the acceptable window, including evenings, weekends, holidays, summer (except summer school), spring, and winter breaks.

As always, if you feel a student is accessing harmful or explicit content using their Chromebook during the acceptable monitoring window, please immediately contact administration.

Good Evening Monarch Families. Here are announcements for the week of October 16th.
Thank you to all those who participated in PINK Day for Breast Cancer Awareness. We appreciate the The Pink Club for advertising this day, decorating the school and obtaining donations for the this important cause.
If your student is planning to play a sport this year but has not had a physical yet, we will be offering sports physicals on site. Mark your calendars for this Friday, Oct. 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the Nurse's Office/Student Support Center. The cost is $20.00, cash only.
Monte Vista is hosting a district-wide Scholarship Night sponsored by Cal SOAP. Come get assistance finding, applying and securing scholarships for college. All parents and students are welcome to attend on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Monte Vista gym.
Join PTSA and help us do great things for kids at Monte Vista. Please show your support for all they do by becoming a member of PTSA. There is a link in the email version of this message. The PTA Reflections Art Contest is here. Any student can participate. This year’s theme is “Within Reach.” Students can submit a choreographed dance, a short film, a poem, a story, an original song, a photo or visual work of art. Students can pick up a PTA Art Reflections entry form from the Guidance Center. Submissions are due by Tuesday, November 3rd and can be turned in at the Guidance Center.
Thank you to families for completing our Family Survey either online or by turning in the form. We are down to the wire and our deadline for the completion of this important survey.
